Cagliari Bike & Hike Tour: Flamingos, E-Bikes & the Devil's Saddle Summit
The Cagliari Bike & Hike tour packs two of the city's best outdoor experiences into four hours: an e-bike ride through Molentargius Natural Park alongside pink flamingos, and a hike up to the Sella del Diavolo — the Devil's Saddle — one of Cagliari's most spectacular coastal viewpoints, with a panoramic view of the Gulf of Angels that rewards every step of the climb.

Why Book the Cagliari Bike & Hike?
The Bike & Hike is the most varied outdoor tour available from Cagliari — it combines an e-bike nature ride with a genuine summit hike, two completely different environments in one four-hour itinerary. The e-bike section through Molentargius is flat and peaceful, cycling alongside flamingos on a dedicated path. The hike section to the Devil's Saddle is rocky and gradual, rewarding effort with one of Sardinia's best panoramic coastal views. The same guide leads both sections, weaving ecology, geology and local legend into the experience throughout.
With only 8 participants per group and a perfect 5.0★ rating across all verified reviews, this is the highest-rated cycling tour in Sardinia.
What the Tour Covers — Step by Step
The four-hour tour divides naturally into two halves:
- E-bike from the Marina through the historic waterfront to Molo Ichnusa
- Cycle path through Molentargius Natural Park — flamingos, herons and salt pond history
- Ride to Poetto Beach and the bay of Calamosca
- Lock the bikes — start of the hiking section
- Moderate trail climb through coastal maquis scrub to the Sella del Diavolo ridge
- Summit viewpoint — panoramic view of the Gulf of Angels, the lagoon system and Cagliari
- Descent back to the bikes at Poetto
- Return ride to the Easycletta shop in the Marina
The Devil's Saddle: Cagliari's Best Viewpoint
The Sella del Diavolo (Devil's Saddle) is a protected coastal headland at the southern tip of Poetto Beach — its name comes from a legend that the Archangel Michael defeated the Devil here, who dropped his saddle as he fled. The hiking trail climbs 90 m through protected maquis to the summit ridge. The panoramic terrace at the top faces north over the Gulf of Angels, taking in the full arc of Cagliari's coastline, the lagoon and salt pond system, and the mountains of the Campidano plain inland.
On clear days Teulada cape is visible to the south. It is, by most accounts, the single best view over Cagliari.

Cagliari Bike & Hike FAQ
How difficult is the hike to the Devil's Saddle?
The Devil's Saddle hike is moderate — a 90 m ascent on a rocky coastal trail through maquis scrub, taking approximately 30–40 minutes up and 25 minutes down. The path is uneven underfoot but never technical. Most visitors of moderate fitness complete it without difficulty. The guide sets the pace to the group's ability. Wear closed-toe shoes with grip — sandals and flip flops are not permitted on the trail.
Is this the same flamingo route as the 2-hour Flamingo Oasis Tour?
The e-bike section through Molentargius covers the same cycle path as the Flamingo Oasis Bike Tour, but the Bike & Hike continues beyond the park to add the Devil's Saddle summit hike. If you want purely the flamingo experience without the hiking section, book the 2-hour Flamingo Oasis tour instead. If you want both the flamingo lagoon and the panoramic summit, the Bike & Hike is the right choice.
Can I do the Bike & Hike and the Old Town e-bike tour on the same day?
Technically possible but not recommended — each tour runs 2–4 hours, and combining both would make for a very full day of physical activity. Most visitors prefer to do the Cagliari Old Town E-Bike Tour on one day and the Bike & Hike on a separate morning or afternoon. This allows time to explore the flamingo park properly and have energy for the summit climb.
